It is a test (but that's OK)
Every test that you have experienced is the kind that normally comes to people. But God keeps his promise, and he will not allow you to be tested beyond your power to remain firm; at the time you are put to the test, he will give you the strength to endure it, and so provide you with a way out. 1 Corinthians 10 : 13 (GNB) |
Across the country students are now breathing a sigh of relief following the end of the exam season and the start of the summer holidays.
Tests can be demanding or even stressful. They can require preparation, concentration and determination in order to succeed. However, they are not impossible and their successful completion can open the door to greater things. Whether that is a place at university, a new job or something else entirely.
There are similarities between exams and the tests spoken about in our passage this week. Throughout our lives, whether we follow Jesus or not, we will face challenges, hard decisions and uncertainty, these are all features of life.
However the difference for us as followers of Jesus compared to everyone else is the promise that we see in the passage. God promises that whatever tests come your way, they will not be too great that you cannot overcome them. God will never let there be a challenge in your life that is too much for you to handle, or too difficult for you to achieve.
Put another way, God has promised that as followers of Jesus working through the 'exam' of life, the pass mark will always be within our grasp. It might not always be easy, some problems might take a bit of head scratching and a bit of prayer, but God will make sure that if you trust him you will make the grade. As you might prepare and revise for a physical exam, God through our experiences prepares us for the challenges that we are going to face.
This week remember no matter what your academic record might say, as a follower of Jesus you can pass with flying colours any test that you face in your life. Have a great week.
